I underestimated this one majorly. Most modern brands nowadays are very slick and Tincup is no different with an elegant and practical bottle followed by slick presentation. Even though its not my favorite flavor profile I will be repurchasing.

Tincups flagship product American Whiskey is geared towards those seeking a low proof easy-sipping whiskey with a high-end look and feel. And interestingly they dont use the word bourbon on the label preferring to stick with American Whiskey The actual juice comes from MGP Ingredients in Lawrenceville Indiana the same distiller behind several popular rye whiskeys including Bulleit and High West. Tincup American Whiskey from Colorado seems to be looking to join those making news from West of the Mississippi.

Instead the company just goes with the style name of American Whiskey All of this is surprising actually. A spicy robust flavor that is evened out with the smooth foundation of a bourbon. Not all whiskey needs to be cask strength to be enjoyable but this is truly a case where 6.

While it has potential its approachable low proof is also its ultimate shortcoming. But Tincup puts its own Colorado stamp on the product. The original Tincup carries no age statement but this new expression packs a 10 year punch.

I have never had Stranahans but the small batch nature of the whiskey means that it is. Which is funny because I hate rye Gin And Tincup is a high rye whiskey. As whiskey goes Tincup is one of the gentlest Ive ever had which is the antithesis of how we usually consider high-rye spirits.

Its technically bourbon but Tincup has a higher rye content than most. The nose is an icy blast of bold rye whiskey with just a touch of sweetness that is classically American. Original review written January 16 2020.

The flavors are good its not too strong and its not one of those drinks that experts gush over but a common man doesnt understand. The nose is subtle and light the palate is sweet with hints of spice and the finish mimics all of these characteristics. Tincup Whiskey is a deep dark and tasty mixture of richness of character and range of flavors.

Time for a bourbon with the distinctive Tincup brand owned by marketing firm Proximo who also handle familiar names such as Jose Cuervo and Kraken Rum. This higher rye content gives what Graber calls his take on classic American Whiskey. A high rye whiskey made with a bourbon-style profile but more powerful and spicier the cap also works as a cup.

The nose offers vanilla and butterscotch and as it opens up in the glass dusty wood notes develop. For around 30 its a steal if you like fresh and clean whiskies. Tincup American Whiskey is the brainchild of Colorado-based Jess Graber.

This is why Tincup is labeled as American Whiskey and not a bourbon. The initial smell of Tincup is extremely stout and the liquor smell may be off-putting to some. This is a good whiskey for people who have moved beyond doing shots of Jack by default.

Tincup American Whiskey is an American Whiskey that has a twist or twist at that. Jess Graber is the man behind Tincup. It also does not include the addition of any Stranahans which means that even though it doesnt say bourbon on the label thats basically what it is.

I dont want to dwell on the details here too much Im more interested in trying the whiskey but if you dig a little deeperif you dig a little deeper. Tincups packaging and marketing is really good maybe a little too good. By Jason March 18 2015.

The sips are smooth with a bit of bite. Sweet smooth mild and mellow Tincup is American Whiskey done right. High West Rendezvous Rye Jewel of Russia Rock Hill Farms check my reviews and youll see that I do in fact like rye.

The whiskey is not a spicy whiskey and remains smooth and light with the caramel flavoring it.
